I have invited that friend to my program along with another young man who tries to give something to the society in the form of golden saying. It is their habit and common practice to send such messages to all the people. My first guest is Israt Muhammad and Amjad Khan Mohmand. I welcome you both in the show.
Mr. Israt, first of all please tell me how did you develop this habit and it assumed such an important rile n your life.
Israt: I try to be in touch with all those friends
Who belong to different fields and realize the importance of this thing. There are sixty such friends whom I send a message each morning. They include people from different sections and professions In our society. I first think about the language because these people have different languages. All such messages are either in Urdu or English. For Pashto Language I have formed another group who I send a message in Pashto.
Shams: How do you search out so many messages with such good thoughts?
Israt: I have a large circle and store all such messages received. First I understand the content and then though about all my friends whom I want to send the message. I also study books and attend literary gatherings and collect such thoughts.
Shams: How much will be your total storage?
Israt: I have arranged a special mobile for it with a large memory. I try to store all such messages in my cell phone. I leave that phone at home else I may lose it. It is so precious for me. I have stored all the contacts and messages in that mobile phone. I also write such messages.
Shams: This morning I received a short message which says that friendship double our joys and divide our grief. It is a short message but means a lot. Mr. Amjad, you both are friends and colleagues as well. Did you develop this hobby due to Israt or you are also fond of it.
Amjad: I may say that to start a work a man may get inspired or have some experience. I am also in the circle who receives messages from Israt. It is my usual practice to spend a lot of time on net surfing. I search for such saying and I have a lot of such quotes in the form of pictures. I store them all in my laptop and write them down as well. However, I do not forward them usually. Sometime I see a proverb in the news paper and store it. It is my hobby now.
Shams: it also depends on your personal interest. There was a time when I used to memorize all the good verses which appealed to my fancy. I have thousand of such verses in my diary. My question is that first tell us a few golden sayings so that our listeners are also instigated to share their thoughts with us.
Amjad: I remember q few sayings of Sheikh Saadi which says that if sparrow get united then they can torn apart a lion. It stresses that unity is strength. Similarly he says that, search for a living during day and find the Lord who provide you food. There are so many like it.
Shams: your second quote is exemplified by the companions of the Prophet (SAW) who used to fight during day and worship the Lord during the night. Mr. Israt I may also ask you to tell us something.
Israt: Moulana Roomi says wisdom is superior to your wishes because intelligence gives you mastery over the world while your desires make you a slave to the world. Sheikh Saadi says that be happy because if you worry then you make your today miserable while problems will remain the same.
Shams: Dear listeners, Sheikh Saadi stresses that do not worry too much for your future because it will spoil your present as well.
Caller: Muhammad Sabir is calling. I really wanted to have such program. Hazrat Ali says that compliance is superior to respect. I also want that such messages should also be started to me and I should also be included in the list.
Shams: It is very good but you may call again and tell your number to be conveyed to our guests. Mr. Amjad I want to ask that whether history of such quotes is available?
Amjad: I do not know about the history of these quotes but when I was a student we used to share our quotes in college magazine. These quotes were also collected at that time from different sources. We have learnt all this from our elders and it might be in vogue since a long time.
Shams: Israt: what is your opinion in modern time when communication has totally changed? When IT tools were not there then what was the source of spread of these quotes?
Israt: At that time, such quotes could be found in educational institutes but at a limited scale. But now this can spread so fast and so wide. It is spreading rapidly and it is a good thing.
Shams: Do you think that spread through social media has any practical advantage?
Caller: Adil Hussain Tore from Kuram agency is calling. I want tell a couple of quotes as well. One such saying is that a rule of infidels may continue but not one with cruelty. Another saying is that if you point out a finger at others then four are pointing at you.
Shams: Thank you very much. The second quote is a wonderful because we all are in the habit of criticizing others.
Israt: I was telling you that if a single person act upon nay one saying then iy is my success.
Shams: Dear listeners, we are going toward the report..
Caller: Omar Jan is calling from Dera Ismail Khan. It is said that Knowledge calls for action and if not complied with then it departs. Hazrat Abu Bakr says that I wonder at the person who believes in fate and then mourn any loss in life.
Shams: You should note it down because you have to convey it to others through your messages. Afzal Mohmand has prepared a report about the same issue. Let us listen to it.
REPORT: Afzal Khan Mohmand
âIn primary school there was a quote written which said that be careful about three things which are pen, step and oath. All three must be taken with the greatest of care.â
Hamid Khan is a student of 12th grade and still remembers the quote written in his primary school but he does not remember who said that,
âit is said that there was a person who was walking.â
Asad Ullah is an Islamiyat teacher who says that it is not necessary to know who says that but it is important to understand what is being said,
âAll those saying that are full of wisdom are called quotes. I may quote one such saying which says that knowledge is the lost treasure of a Muslim and must grab it wherever he finds it. If we gather such sayings and act upon it in practical life then many of our problems and troubles will be solved. We must take advantage of the experiences of our elders through their sayings. We can correct ourselves and can make our future bright.â
Professor Saeed said that quotes are beyond the boundaries of time and space. In each place and at each period its importance cannot be denied.
âIf Tariq Bin Zyad says that I will burn the boats he means to encourage his companions. His personality is not before us now but what he said at that time to his army is before us through his quote. It reflects his personality and wonderful character. He gave courage to his soldiers.â
Osman is a common person, who narrates the sayings of his elders and says,
âWe have learnt so many things from him and are guiding us. We went for consultation and Mian Sab told us that that person is your brother who has formed a connection with your mind, heart and emotion.â
But many quotes are expressed through verses. Abdullah is a student who tells one such verse
âEven if you stand at the door of his brother for help then he may tolerate you for a little time. It is only Allah who can bear you till the end.â
âJaved is standing with his brother and talking about current affairs. Javed says that life is the name of troubles but hope should not be let go. He says that when he is down cast, an English quote give him courage,
âI am inspired by a quote by Emily Dickenson who says that hope is a thing with feathers. We can says that hope is a such a thing which has feather and if man is in real bad state even then he cannot lose hope. Man may face such circumstances that are bad indeed but still hope drives him forward.â
Shams: Dear listeners, welcome back after the report by Afzal Khan. One person said hat it is not necessary to know the source but understand the content of a quote. Yesterday I received a message which says that âTension is a self punishment and wastage of time. It cannot change anything but keep you busy at doing nothing.â Mr. Israt, you have collected storage and thanks to different mobile packages for making it easy to send it to others. But have you paln any arrangement to publish it or store it?
Israt: I do share it with my friends..
Caller: this is Tariq from Tehkal. Napoleon once said that if I am attacked from four sides then I may defend myself but if a person flatters me at the face is hard to defend. Another verse says that if I give you the right to judge then you will equalize your ass with my horse.
Shams: thanks for sharing. Mr. Amjad, one common thing these days is that quotes are often wrongly associated with famous men. The caller said well that flattery is common in our society which is the worst of assaults.
Amjad: Sometimes a man lacks something but if a man flatters him at his face then he is misguided and may fall into superiority complex. It can affect his decision making later in life.
Shams: Mr. Amjad share a couple of quotes with us.
Amjad: It is said that hope nurtures life. Everyone is leading his life at the basis of his hope. It is also said that you cannot be a best person unless your deeds are good. Bad people can say good things but a good person do well. I endorse the views of Israt that if only one person can take any lesson from such quotes then it is enough for us.
Caller: I am Abdul Qudoos from Government College Peshawar. Hazrat Ali says that knowledge is increases with the use while world decreases with use. Sheikh Saadi says that to repay a good deed is the work of a dog while to do badly in reply to bad is the work of an ass but human being is that who do well to you while you wrong him.
Amjad: there is a tale that a person asked a dog that why you bark when a beggar come to street. The dog replied that I warn the beggar to seek help from Him who give to all. Another question was asked that why you pass urine on a tree. The dog replied that I abhor the idea that someone might have worshipped on the soil. A third question was asked that why you bark at the later part of the night. The dog replied that Allah comes near the earth during this time and I warn the people to wake up and seek forgiveness.
Shams: It is a good message. We must learn something from even a dog.
Israt: It is said that man earns to be happy and worry to eat. Ibne Insha says that I have a commonality with my wife. She takes sleeping pills and I sleep well.
Shams: (Laughingly) it is a light quote but have deep meaning as well. What do you say Mr. Amjad?
Amjad: Israt has unique collection and when I see his message in the morning then it makes my day happy. Once I received a verse from him by Abasyn Yousaf zai. It says that life is such a tedious enterprise but even then I like it.
Caller: Malik Faqeer is calling from Tangi. Your topic is so good. It is said that man should repay in positive always.
Shams: Mr. Amjad you narrated a verse by Abasyn Yousaf Zai. There are several verses which convey a good message. Quotes have different kinds including verse as well.
Sham: I also want to share that if you keep yourself low then you can have many things because when you grow up even your mother will step you down from her lap. Please explain it.
Israt: Humbleness is a great thing to be followed. People like humble nature and pay respect to it.
Shams: an Urdu verse says that keep to the ground if you want to grow up.
Caller: I want to share that â¦(call dropped)
Shams: please slow down your radio when you make the call.
Israt: First may is Labour Day. A Pashto poet says that when it was time for me to play, I spent it in hard labour.
Amjad: there are many young men who get discouraged after a failure. They seek recluse but it is said that failure is the first step of success. Never lose hope.
Shams: it is also said that there are many ways to reach the Lord but I choose the easiest which is to serve the humanity. It is said by Moulana Roomi. This thing is very much needed in our society which is divided into factions and races. Every one of us considers himself to be right. How can we reduce the harshness in our behaviors and attitudes?
Israt: I told you that even if one person out of hundred act upon my messages then it is my success. Rights of men are more valued than rights of Allah. We must show respect to the views and dogmas of others.
Shams: I also recall that preachers often say that guiding others is like throwing a ball to the wall. Your advice will always instigate you to act upon it first.
Israt: I may narrate an incident. I was attending a Jirga where a Malik said so many things. A young man stood up and asked him that whether you act upon what you say.
Shams: I am waiting for you Amjad
Israt: I recall the Pashto verse which I wanted to tell you about 1st may. It was time to play but it was consumed in labour. O my fate why I got up young at the wrong time.
Shams: It is said that a tongue has no bones but it strong enough to break a heart so be careful with your tongue.
Amjad: we also say that the blow of tongue is deadly than the sword.
Shams: It is often said by the lovers.
Israt: Quad e Azam says that expect the best prepare for the worst.
Shams: It also stresses that failure may not break you. Our Holy Prophet (SAW) says that look at the lower people in status while look at the superior people in matters of religion and spiritualism. I am thankful for your presence with us. As Mr. Israt said that if a couple of our listeners learn from our todayâs program then will be fairly enough for us. It is good bye for now.
